I hate to take a turn to the serious, but something happened yesterday that got me to thinking about life and more importantly, my life.
A friend of mine brought some disturbing news to me yesterday, that a classmate of mine from high school had passed away due to cancer. I wasn't close to this person, not even really friends with them, but I did hang out with them once or twice and I guess you could even say, they were a part of my life. This person has moved on to a better place. I don't want to sound all sappy or depressing, but this really got me to thinking about how much we should treasure every moment of life that we have, because you never know what moment will be your last. No, I'm not saying your going to die tomorrow, or the next day, or even in 10 years, but you never know what could happen, right?
So it made me think, what means the world to me? First, my parents. Without them, I doubt I'd be sitting where I am today (not paying attention in trading class). But for real, all the yelling, a few slaps here and there, and some mild threats, I graduated college, got a job and now decided to venture off on my own and be a risk taker. I must say I'm glad I'm not sitting behind my desk at IBM trying to write functional specifications (all you corporate America kids know you hate that life). But to my parents, thanks!
Deuce, being happy. I have a hard time believing people that put other people in front of themselves. I mean, really, how can you make someone else happy if your not happy with yourself? Whether that person is a friend, acquintance, a significant other, can you really worry about making them happy if your not happy with yourself? I've encountered so many people who hate their lives, hate what they do, hate their surroundings. I think to myself, shit, you need to switch up your gameplan. And I'm thinking, if your not happy in the long run, won't that probably cause some health problems? I'm not a doctor, but I think that it would. So yeah, being happy is pretty darn important.
Three, the friends. No not all 1200 of you on Facebook, I mean my true friends. The one's I can trust, the one's I can rely on, and the one's I know that always got my back. It's easy to say I have 1200 friends, well that's great, how many of them are my real friends? I knew as many people as I could in college, I was social, I was in organizations, it was cool. When I left college though, I truly grasped the meaning of a friend. So out of the 1200 Facebook friends I see on my list, a select few I'd say are my true friends and you know who are. Are the rest not my friends? Are they not cool? Are they not fun to hang out with? No, I'm not saying that, this is just my view of a friend at this stage of my life and these are all people I am thankful for.
I don't want to write forever, but these are just a few things thats are most important to me. Life is a very precious gift and I plan to treat it that way. I plan on living my life every day to the fullest, being happy, and sharing those times with family and good friends. Ya dig?

Obama, Steroids, and Sparty
President Obama, may I ask a favor of you? Please stop talking so much and start working a little harder, because 9 out of the last 10 times you have decided to speak, the market has dropped after your words. I hate to say it, but I don't see this guy getting us out of this crap anytime soon, maybe thats why he keeps asking for patience. America looks at Obama too much like a celebrity, instead of the President. I've heard him say so many things he plans on doing and how change has come to America. Is he referring to a change by leading us into a depression? OK, a little exaggeration, but overall I think Americans need to help Obama just as much as he needs to help himself by getting their shit together and putting the pressure on this guy. Sure it's a great story that he was elected, but now that he's President, let's make some things happen. I get we have to be patient, but for how long? How long do we have to wait President Obama, can you give me a number please? I'll tell you one thing, I'd definitely rather hang out with W.
A-Hole, I mean A-Rod, congrats on admitting to taking steroids. Look, I'm really sick of this steroid bullshit in baseball. All those idiots take some kind of "performance enhancing drug" and Bud Selig needs to accept the fact that he's a shitty commissioner and because of his ease of policy, players have been able to take and access these drugs, more easily. Personally, I don't care if they take steroids, baseball's in the bottom tier of the 4 major sports. Is it tarnished? I don't know and I don't really care. This steroid thing is way outdated and it needs to stop. Let's just let go of it, move on, and replace Bud Selig with George W. Bush, ya dig?
Did anyone else realize you heard more Go Green, Go White chants yesterday? Dude, we were playing at Crisler (Breslin East) and still outdid the Maze Rage (hahaha, losers!). Izzo had his troops ready and they locked down UofM really only letting Deshawn Sims be productive. Walton's lockdown D held Manny Harris in check forcing him to throw up prayers. This was a huge win for MSU and gives us a solid chance for our first Big Ten Title sine 2001, please believe!!!!!! State's got a week off so hopefully everyone gets healthy, especially Raymar, because we go into Mackey Arena and play Purdue next Tuesday. Hey scUM, JUST LIKE FOOTBALL!

What a night!
Lebron James, you are possessed. The man didn't care what Kobe did, he just decided to drop a triple double, with 52 points, HOLY CRAP! What an impressive performance, to say the least. And its hard to say, but he one-upped Kobe on this one. Sure Kobe had 61, but Lebron had 11 assists and 10 rebounds. It's one thing to score tons, but to contribute to your team on all aspects of the game. It's true, I firmly believe it, that Lebron James will average a triple double one year in the NBA. Whatever you may think about Lebron, there is no doubt he is the most gifted athelete in the NBA. My NBA all star team right now: CP3, Kobe, Lebron, Amare, Dwight. Yours?
So I guess Tom Izzo missing his first ever Superbowl paid off as the Spartans killed Minnesota. Of course, Mr. Summers was going crazy, again! This guy is on fire and is raw. He's still only a sophmore, but if he continues to play like this, especially through the tournament, there's a small chance he could leave this year. Hopefully he doesn't, because this team can be just as stacked next year with him, Kalin, and Chris (way to get your shot back). Overall, a nice thrashing by MSU and it was without Raymar. I'm not the biggest Raymar fan, but we definitely need him. His size, scoring, and rebounding all play a factor. Sparty plays Indiana, who just came of their first Big Ten win last night, at the Breslin this Saturday. Tommy should take it easy on Crean, but MSU will win, I gaurantee it. Watch out for the spread, it might be smart to take Indiana on the + side, depending on the number.
Speaking of betting, yesterday was a HUGE night, thanks in part to the Lakers for coming back and closing out Toronto. But, the damn Cavs (specifically Z), should have made the last two free throws, then I'd really be chillin, but oh well. It was still a great night of betting. Of course after the profits were realized, it was time to spark one (and then one more) up and put on that DVR'ed American Idol, always good for a few laughs.
This week has already been a crazy week in sports with Lebron and Kobe doing it big at MSG and Manny Ramirez declining the 1 year 25 million offer from the Dodgers. Ummmmm, give the man what he wants. He's in class all alone and will arguably be in the top 10 of all time of baseball players, even with the drama. But more important then all these happenings, what about the porn during the Superbowl? Did you hear about it? A Tuscon, AZ station had some unexpected action show up during the game. My thoughts on this, well the porn industry is worth 6 billion dollars, so they should just buy a commercial spot, haha. Please see the link below for more details. Have a good Thursday!

Oh you don't say???

I bet you can't tell whats in the middle? Haha, one of my buddies told me this stuff looks radioactive, oh well, I can't complain.
Let me introduce to my friends. In the center is one of my friends I don't see very often, we like to call him Purple Urkel. Surrounding Mr. Urkel, is my newest favorite, Pink Maui, she's gorgeous isn't she? I'm telling you, Austin is treating me great, a lot better than those FUgazers up in Michigan. I'm pretty happy with what I've seen so far, hoping it only gets better. It makes me wonder why there isn't an "Austerdam University" out here. Did you see CNBC's Marijuana Inc? They had a school called Oaksterdam on it, located in Oakland, CA showing you how to grow Marijuana and the best tactics. Austerdam, hmm, looks like I have a new task. Yeah right, I'll stick to just enjoyin the views and affects, and let others take care of the dirty work.
BTW, MSU plays Minnesota tonight at 8:30 EST, let's see if Raymar plays and G has a small knee issue, but he should be probable. Hope you enjoyed, GO GREEN!

Mr. Kobe Bryant, the BEST in the World

OK, I was lying in my first ever post, and Kobe Bryant decided to prove me wrong. On the biggest stage in the world in the biggest city in the world, Kobe dropped an unreal 61 at MSG shooting a perfect 20-20 from the line, for the best performance ever at MSG.
Now look, I'm not obsessed with Kobe (flying np), but I know where credit it is due and this guy has earned it over and over again. I can't believe I am saying this, but even without the same amount of championships, you have to put this guy in the convo with Jordan. The performances Kobe has had are unreal and he is usually shooting equal to or better then his team (Source: Credible Kobe Fan). I wasn't able to watch this game, but I did have money on it. When I saw ESPN's gamecast show 5-7, 13 points, with 5:25 to go in the first quarter, I looked to my roomate and said, "here we go, he's still got it. Bynums gone, and he's just going to come out and show everyone that he still has it." Yeah, I was right, and Kobe has done it again. Words don't exactly describe the man's performance so if you care to witness it, put on Sportscenter (greatest show ever), because it's on all day until 3PM.
Luckily the Laker's did win and I was able to turn a profit. Yesterday turned out to be solid thanks to the Spurs/Warriors game. Going to bed it looked like the night was going to be dudley, but when I woke up this morning, I saw the Spurs won by 5, exactly what I needed. The night turned out well, but even better, Andrew Bynum's out 8-12 weeks and this was Kobe's first game without him and he dropped 61. Kobe, score 101? Yeah he can do it, will he? Doubt it, but keep watching the BEST player in the world to find out, because he'll be sure to turn in some sick performances.
Readers, please let me know your thoughts on Kobe and where you compare him to Jordan and the greats off all time.

Good Monday Morning!
Sure, most of my friends love MSU, they love sports, but really most of you could give two shits about it. To most of you it's just another game. Hey, that's cool, whatever floats your boat.
So I've decided, at least in attempt to broaden my range of readers, to delve into my life a little more and really what it is that I do (well some of it). So yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday, just another day, right? Not really, I did pick up those 50 pc nuggets for 8.99 and murdered them all, every single last one of them. Damn, I'm paying for it now. I hope I can trade today, shit! (no, not literally)
I got about 20 minutes before I start trading so let me ask you readers a question. What if I told you that I bet over 10K on the Super Bowl and told you I didn't lose a penny? What if I told you that none of my bets hit (AZ straight up and Pitt -7.0)? What if I told you thats how it always goes, that I never lose, I only win or never lose, what would you say now? OK, I get it, you think I'm nuts, as you should. But thats cool, cause Imma do me. But what about that one time your going to lose? What about that one time you put all your eggs in one basket and all fails, then what do you do? Well I guess if I ever see that day, I'll worry about it then. Even my Dad bugs out about it "So Jas, you mean to tell me you bet on games and never lose, I don't belive that, thats impossible!" Sorry, Dad, impossible is nothing, just ask Adidas.
Is the threat of losing out there? Sure it is, does it happen to me? Haha, nope! So I guess I'll keep betting on hopes of being a millionare, praying that spreads never fail, the over on Calgary vs. Colorado hits tonight, and maybe, just maybe, I'll make a little (but won't lose). Or, I could just wrap up this entry and rape the market, I defer to the latter.
P.S. You see The Office last night? Funny shit!

Super Bowl Sunday, America's Biggest Holiday
As I sit back today for another Super Bowl Sunday, I look back and see just how big of a deal this game is. Not just to me, but to America. It's not just a game, its a party, a gathering, a time for families, friends, and colleagues to gather for arguably their biggest party of the year. How is it that one game has transformed the country into lockdown mode for a few hours on a Sunday evening? I get that America is in a recession and we keep losing jobs, but if you can really tell me that Barack Obama isn't sitting in the White House kicked back enjoying the greatest game on Earth, I'll give you 100 bucks.
I know we have Christmas and Thanksgiving and plenty of other holidays in between, but to me, Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest holiday in this country. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do and if you don't, well get a life. So as kickoff approaches in about a hour, I'm going to sit back, eat my $8.99 50 piece chicken mcnuggets, crack open a Heinken Light, and spark an Ellington (or four), and enjoy the greatest game in the world on America's favorite holiday in hopes that you will be doing the same. I'm feelin kinda Sunday, GO CARDS!!

Spartans improve to 5-0 on the road, best since 1950
What a great win for MSU. After scoring a pathetic 36 points last year in the whole game at Carver Hawkeye Arena, the Spartans almost matched that total in the first half. It was never really close until Iowa got within 9 with about 10 minutes to go and then Tommy called a timeout and got into his players. They came out and responded with a 6-0 run that they would never look back on, beating Iowa 71-56. Of course, it was the Durrell and Kalin show, as they accounted for 60% of our points. I don't think many expected us to lose this game, but none the less, a big road win in a tough conference. Now, Michigan State is 5-0 on the road in the Big Ten and 7-1 overall, holding a nice lead at the top of the Big ten.
What lies ahead for the Spartans? Well, 3 straight home games against Penn State, Indiana, and Minnesota. I am going to pencil us in for two wins again PSU and Indiana, but don't look for Izzo to blowout Crean even though he can. They are close friends and he won't do that to him. The only game I'm skeptical about is Minnesota, but the Spartans are tough to beat at home, just ask Northwestern...........oops!
MSU could easily be 10-1 in the Big Ten after next Saturday, with a huge game looming at scUM on Tuesday. Let's hope they use the next three games to build up their confidence and thrash the Wolverines. Go Green, Go White!
P.S. Happy Birthday to my mom. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be where I am at today. Thanks Mom and Happy Bday.

Welcome, Have Fun!

I would start this off with the Lions, but who likes reading about something so bad to start? So lets start with MSU Hoops. Izzo's squad is loaded and this class of Allen, Lucas, and Summers could go down as one of the better ones. OK, Allen's been off lately, but he's a shooter, they go in rhythms. You don't see Jodie Meeks dropping 54 every night or Kobe dropping 81 every night do you? Good times and bad times come, lay off the X Man, he's going to be there dropping those treys when it really counts! I have too much to say about Lucas and Summers, so I'll save that for another post, but its obvious they are STARS! As my boy Dickie V would say, "super, scintillating, unbelievable.............its awesome baby!!!!!!" Goran Suton, most unrecognized player on this team. Without G, we lose every other game I'd say. He's instrumental in what we do and is solid down low, but why the hell won't he just dunk the ball? This layup business has pissed me off since he blew that one at Gonzaga, none the less, we need him to play solid and as long as he does, we'll be dancing into April, yes folks April, not March. I have no doubt that this team will be dancing in Detroit come the first weekend of April. Seasons still early, but we are on the verge of capturing something I never saw in my tenure at MSU, a Big Ten Championship. Let's GO STATE!
An article dropped last night/this morning on Sean McHugh, who? Oh yeah the fullback who went from getting cut by the Lions and now playing on the Steelers. Of course, another former Lion who is now succeeding. Look, I'm not going to even throw out a Mock Draft. A combine hasn't even happened yet, who knows, Brian Hoyer could jump up to the first round, yeah right. Number 1 for me, right now, Malcolm Jenkins. Humans just aren't built like that every day, he's a stud. Mayhew, Lewand, Schwartz, Cunningham, and Linnehan; I'm loving this so far, sure most of it is because I'm a fan, but we got the right people, I KNOW IT! If Mayhew can draft the right players, we could become a consistent factor in a mediocre division. Yeah it hasn't happened in......well, its never really happened. But have faith Detroit, GO LIONS!
One last shout out to Dantonio and his staff. Loaded recruiting class for 2009 and the 2010 commitments will come in bunches. I expect William Gholston to commit and Max Bullough to have a freakish senior season, expect him to be a high four star recruit. Michigan State football is back for the first time since the Saban days. Gosh, can you imagine if Saban was still here? We might have won a title already, but I'm not mad at the man, if I saw six 0's I'd dip for another school. A wise man once said "pay the man his money!"
Let's make one thing clear, I am a MSU fan and a Detroit sports fan. Everything you read will probably sound pro MSU or pro Detroit. If you don't like it, don't read it. I'm a fan and there's nothing more to say than that. Look forward to future posts regarding the fan base in Southeastern Michigan, MSU Recruiting, and the Lions Logo.
Detroit, We go hard!
